Read the Candidate Application Bulletin and Learn State Licensure Requirements

Fully understand the process and expectations for examination candidates and check your board of pharmacy’s website to see if there are unique requirements in the jurisdiction where you are seeking licensure.

    • Verify which exam you will need to take.
      • Check whether your jurisdiction has adopted the Uniform MPJE or continues to use the state-specific version of the MPJE. UMPJE adoption timelines vary by jurisdiction. See participating states for details.
      • Some jurisdictions allow early administration of the MPJE or UMPJE for students prior to graduation. Check with your school of pharmacy to see if they are participating in this option.
    • If applicable, apply for the armed forces discount in your NABP e-Profile before applying for exam eligibility.

      Apply for Exam Eligibility

Apply in the Exam Services section of your NABP e-Profile and pay the application fee. See the information below regarding eligibility. Timelines and fees may vary depending on the jurisdiction.

      • If applicable, request ADA accommodations.
        • If you need test day accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), complete and follow the submission instructions on the Request for Testing Accommodations form. The form should be submitted with your online application.
      • Submit transcript upon degree conferral.
        • Transcripts are required if you have never taken the MPJE or UMPJE, regardless of your graduation year, are not licensed in the US, or have never submitted an official transcript to NABP. You must have an official transcript sent from your college of pharmacy to NABP. Learn more about how to submit your transcripts.

Once eligibility is granted, the purchase exam link will appear in your NABP e-Profile.

After purchasing the exam, you will receive an ATT via email.

      • Purchase a UMPJE score transfer.
        • You may also purchase UMPJE score transfers at this time, or you may wait until after you have taken the exam. You may purchase score transfers up to 89 days after your exam date. Candidates are advised to purchase score transfer requests as soon as possible. Waiting until the last day may result in the score transfer request option being unavailable. Take the MPJE or UMPJE Early

Students may be eligible to take the MPJE or UMPJE before graduation from participating colleges in select jurisdictions. This optional route can help reduce the time to licensure after you complete your program. Early administration is only available for the jurisdiction where your college is located.

To qualify, you must fulfill the following requirements:

    • Currently in your final year of pharmacy school at a participating ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy and jurisdiction.

    • Successfully complete your didactic curriculum, including any required law course.

    • Have a conferral date more than 6 months in the future.

    • Follow the “Steps to Apply” listed above.

    MPJE UMPJE Landing Page

Participating colleges will submit a roster of eligible students to NABP. Once you are identified as an eligible student, you will receive an email notifying you that you may apply for MPJE or UMPJE. Eligible students may purchase exam eligibility between August 1 and December 1. From here, you will follow the standard steps to apply. Visit the Support Center or contact your college for additional information.

This option is voluntary and limited to one exam attempt prior to graduation, which counts toward your total attempt limits under NABP policy. Students who do not pass will need to wait until after graduation to retest under the standard process.

    UMPJE Score Transfer

The score transfer program saves time and allows you to move ahead with licensure in more than one participating jurisdiction as soon as you pass the UMPJE. Score transfers are not available for the MPJE.

Score transfer can be added to your UMPJE application in your e-Profile. You may select jurisdictions in addition to the primary jurisdiction where you are seeking licensure, and we will transmit your score to those boards of pharmacy that accept the UMPJE.

    Score Transfer Tips

      • Score transfer requests can be submitted via your NABP e-Profile up to 89 days after sitting for the UMPJE.
      • The cost is $105 per jurisdiction.
      • Purchase score transfer requests as soon as possible; waiting until the last day may result in the score transfer request option being unavailable.
