The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2026 NABP Leadership Awards. The following awards will be presented on May 14, 2026, during the 122nd NABP Annual Meeting.
2026 Carmen A. Catizone Honorary President Award Recipient
Susan M. DelMonico, RPh, JD, is an active NABP member who has contributed her expertise to numerous NABP task forces and committees and served on the Rhode Island Board of Pharmacy for nearly a decade. A health care compliance and community relations advocate, DelMonico has extensive experience in state and federal pharmacy law, professional pharmacy standards, Drug Enforcement Administration and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) compliance, licensing regulations, and corporate regulatory compliance. Currently, she is the director of regulatory affairs and associate general counsel at Genoa Healthcare. She is also an adjunct associate professor of pharmacy law and ethics at the University of Rhode Island.

2026 NABP President’s Award Recipient
Bradley S. “Brad” Hamilton, BScPharm, RPh, is the 2025-2026 NABP president and a Maine Board of Pharmacy member and past president. Under Hamilton’s leadership, NABP continued development of the NABP Research and Innovation Institute, which provides data-driven insights to help guide regulatory decisions and assist stakeholders in navigating the constantly changing landscape of pharmacy practice. As a member of NABP, Hamilton made many contributions to NABP/American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy District 1 meetings and participated on several committees and task forces.
The NABP President’s Award recognizes the Association’s outgoing president for their dedication to NABP’s mission and goals and commitment to protecting public health.
Fred T. Mahaffey Award Recipient
The Wisconsin Pharmacy Examining Board played an instrumental role in the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination® (MPJE®) Pre-Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences Pilot Program, a collaborative initiative exploring new flexibilities in the pharmacist licensure pathway. The pilot allowed students to sit for the MPJE after completing their core law curriculum, but before their final clinical rotations. The Board’s assistance with the pilot has provided the entire regulatory community with invaluable insights.
The Fred T. Mahaffey Award recognizes an NABP member board for its contributions to the regulation of the practice of pharmacy.
John F. Atkinson Service Award Recipient
Barbara Ellen Maguire Vick, PharmD, JD, is actively involved in NABP and has served on numerous task forces. As associate executive director of the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy, she restructured the investigator operation; led efforts to authorize the full spectrum of vaccinations for North Carolina pharmacists, pharmacy interns, and pharmacy technicians; and developed an equitable internal policy in response to employees seeking secondary employment. In addition to working for the Board, Vick is an adjunct professor of pharmacy law at the University of North Carolina.
The John F. Atkinson Service Award recognizes an individual for sustained and significant contributions to the mission of NABP and the pharmacy regulation landscape through work in the areas of pharmacy law and compliance.
Henry Cade Memorial Award Recipient
Frances Gail Bormel, RPh, JD, principal and co-founder, Compounding Strategy Advisors, LLC, retired from the position of director, FDA Office of Compounding Quality & Compliance, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, in January 2026. Bormel has more than 25 years of regulatory, legal, and pharmacy expertise guiding national drug quality, compounding oversight, and compliance strategy. She also has a proven record of building and leading high-performing organizations, shaping federal policy, directing major enforcement programs, and advising top government leadership. In addition, she has deep expertise in compounding, issues related to unapproved drugs, over-the-counter and import/export regulation, and federal/state pharmacy law.
The Henry Cade Memorial Award recognizes an individual for their dedication and extensive involvement in support of NABP’s goals and objectives to protect public health.
Lester E. Hosto Distinguished Service Award Recipient
Kimberly Grinston, JD, is NABP District 6 chairperson and an active NABP member who currently serves as chair of the Steering Committee for the NABP Research and Innovation Institute. She has also chaired and served on numerous NABP task forces and committees. Prior to becoming executive director of the Missouri Board of Pharmacy in 2008, Grinston served as legal counsel for the Missouri Division of Professional Registration (2006-2008), where she was primary legal counsel to 11 state boards and commissions.
The Lester E. Hosto Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Association, recognizes strong commitment to protecting public health and significant involvement with NABP.
