What is a CPE Cycle?

A CPE cycle is the time during which a state requires that CPE requirements be completed in order to renew a license or registration. All boards of pharmacy require pharmacists to complete a minimum number of CPE credit hours to renew a license. In addition, some boards of pharmacy have specific sub-requirements for topics that are included in the number of CPE credit hours. The specific requirements for completion vary by state.

It is your responsibility to know and ensure that you have met all the requirements within appropriate timelines for renewal. Most pharmacy boards post CPE requirements and other pertinent details on their website. These may change from time to time.

Tip

The Plus plan helps pharmacists easily track CPE requirements to stay compliant. The Plus plan provides a breakdown of renewal requirements for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. See the FAQ about upgrading to the Plus plan for more information.
