Does the OET replace the TOEFL iBT requirement?
No, the current policy remains in place. All applicants should follow the requirements outlined in the FPGEC Candidate Application Bulletin.
NABP will begin accepting the Occupational English Test (OET) for Pharmacy for candidates seeking FPGEC Certification in the FPGEE 2027 application cycle. Passing scores will be determined and published by the end of November 2026.
OET Pharmacy results cannot be used for applications for FPGEC Certification in the FPGEE 2026 application cycle.
For further information on reporting OET Pharmacy results for FPGEC Certification in 2027, contact OET. Once implemented on January 11, 2027, candidates will be able to choose the OET or the TOEFL iBT to satisfy the English language proficiency requirement for FPGEC certification.
Example Candidate Scenarios
- A candidate receives a passing OET score in December 2026. The candidate submits a new FPGEC application on January 25, 2027. The OET score will not be accepted with the application.
- A candidate receives a passing OET score in September 2026. The candidate submits a new FPGEC application on October 20, 2026. The OET score will not be accepted with the application. OET scores can only be submitted on or after January 11, 2027 and OET exams taken before that date do not qualify.
