Tejal J. Patel, MBA, PharmD, RPh, was elected to serve a three-year member term, representing District 2, on the Executive Committee of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) during the Association’s 115th Annual Meeting, May 16-18, 2019, in Minneapolis, MN.

Dr Patel is the president of the Delaware State Board of Pharmacy and has been an active member of the Board since 2013. She has also served on several committees for the Board including the Continuing Education Committee and the Legislative Committee, as well as the Regulatory Council for Physician Assistants and the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Committee in Delaware. Dr Patel has been practicing pharmacy in the retail chain setting for 15 years. She began her career as a pharmacy manager at Eckerd and as a part-time pharmacist for in-patient and out-patient care at Christiana Hospital. She worked as a pharmacy manager at Walgreens and as a pharmacist market manager for Sam’s Club. Dr Patel is currently pharmacy compliance and market manager for Prime Care Pharmacy and a clinical pharmacist with the Delaware Pharmacists Society.

As an active member of NABP, Dr Patel has served as the District 2 secretary/treasurer since 2016. In addition, Dr Patel served on several task forces, including the Task Force on Mutual-Recognition Licensure, the Task Force on Long-Term Care Pharmacy Rules, the Task Force on Expanding International Membership, and the Task Force on Medication Synchronization. She has also served on the Committee on Resolutions and the Committee on Constitution and Bylaws. In addition, Dr Patel has served as an item writer for both the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination® and the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination® and has been a panelist at the NABP Interactive Member Forum.

Dr Patel has been the recipient of the Walgreens Customer Service Extra Mile Award, and numerous awards for medication therapy management and immunization services. She has also been engaged in numerous community services such as Flu Clinics at health fairs, blood pressure screenings and charity events for children.

Dr Patel earned her master of business administration degree in health care administration from Wilmington University, and her doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Colorado School of Pharmacy.
