Registration for the Uniform MPJE™ (UMPJE™) is now available for candidates in participating early adopter jurisdictions. Working with the boards of pharmacy, we developed the uniform version of the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination® (MPJE®) to measure a pharmacist’s competency in state and federal pharmacy law, as well as provide streamlined pathways to help facilitate license mobility. The UMPJE is designed to leverage the commonality of state laws and will focus on assessing knowledge of uniform pharmacy laws and regulations that are applicable across most states. With this new exam available, boards have the option to begin using the uniform version or continue to use the current state-specific version of the MPJE.
The early adopter boards of pharmacy – Arizona, Iowa, Kansas, North Carolina, Ohio, and Rhode Island – have adopted the new exam prior to the general rollout in June 2026. The first administrations of the exam will begin in April 2026 for licensure transfer candidates and students seeking licensure in early adopter jurisdictions. Students must be attending a college of pharmacy in an early adopter state to be eligible. The UMPJE will be open to applicants in additional jurisdictions starting on June 1.
The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) is committed to creating a smooth transition for boards of pharmacy, colleges of pharmacy, and candidates by offering guidance and resources.
