Staff Attorney
This position is exempt.
As the Staff Attorney, you will be responsible for assisting the Legal Affairs team in drafting, negotiating, and managing Association contracts. You will be reviewing and revising policies and procedures; counseling internal clients; performing legal research; writing memoranda, opinions, amicus briefs, and reports; and performing other department responsibilities as assigned. You will provide regular reports regarding all aspects of the program responsibilities and interact professionally and cooperatively with all departments of the Association and outside counsel.

Legal Advice
- Counsels team members, focusing on balancing business needs and risks.
- Liaise with outside counsel as directed.
Legal Documentation
- Prepares and negotiates contracts and agreements in coordination with team.
- Drafts opinions, reports, memoranda, correspondence, policies, and procedures as assigned.
Legal Research
- Performs legal research on laws, regulations, and legislation impacting the Association.
- Drafts memoranda summarizing findings and recommendations as requested.
General Responsibilities
- Fosters and maintains good working relationships and cooperates actively with state boards of pharmacy, outside counsel, Association staff, and the public.
- Adheres to and assists in preparing department budget.
- Develops, provides, and maintains educational presentations and training, as requested.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Graduate of an ABA-approved law school with an active, current Illinois attorney registration in good standing. House Counsel registration to Illinois, or a pending application, for either Illinois registration.
- Excellent writing, research, analytical, and organizational skills are required, as well as attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team to successfully handle multiple responsibilities.
- Must have at least 3 years of current attorney experience with a law firm, corporation, or government attorney experience, which includes proficiency in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a variety of business contracts such as licensing, software, service agreements, or litigation experience as a private or government attorney.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Competence in performing legal and internet research is a must.
- Association legal work and/or a health care background is desired but not required.

Exam Eligibility Assistant II
This position is non-exempt and offers a hybrid work model.
As the Exam Eligibility Assistant II, you will assist the Competency Assessment department with data entry and clerical and support functions.You will work as part of the team to process exam eligibility applications and transcripts, assist in the completion of department projects and tasks, and provide support in other areas of the Association as needed.
Job Description
General Responsibilities
- Responsible for reporting issues to Security and Operations Manager.
- Communicates with board members, school liaisons, candidates, and others related to eligibility and transcript issues.
- Participates in department meetings.
- Manages and maintains email accounts for eligibility and transcripts.
- Works with internal department staff members for reporting and analysis.
- Works closely with Licensure Transfer staff related to eligibility. Concerns or issues should be immediately reported to the Security and Operations Manager.
Task Assistant
- Grants eligibility for NAPLEX and MPJE exams in assigned jurisdictions.
- Verifies education via college transcripts for exam candidates.
- Provides deficiency letters and emails as needed.
- Follows up on issues related to eligibility.
Administrative Assistant
- Performs clerical tasks, such as data entry, filing, and mailing.
- Scans and uploads candidate documents.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare monthly and ad-hoc reports for exam eligibility.
- Prepare reports for analysis as needed.
Job Requirements
- Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least 2 years of office experience.
- Proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
