Artificial intelligence (AI) has acutely grown in focus by all facets of life, including health care. There is more buzz and excitement around what is possible, but it is critical for all health care professionals to understand the fundamentals of AI, why there has been a recent focus on it, and how it will intersect with health care practice, as well as considerations on how to use AI tools in different clinical settings. This webinar will examine how AI and technology have impacted health care and why there has been an increase in focus recently. Additionally, the fundamental concepts behind AI and how they impact health care, both now and in the near future, will be discussed, including a deeper dive into the new practice of prompt engineering, which can help utilize generative AI in a safer manner. Finally, this session will examine ethical considerations of AI in clinical practice.

Presenter
Vishal Amin, PharmD, is a pharmacy product manager and informaticist with 12 years of experience building and operationalizing clinical technology solutions. He graduated in 2011 from Rutgers University and completed post-graduate training in human-factors engineering, clinical informatics, and a PGY-1 in drug information. Dr Amin worked in various software product roles across CVS Health corporate teams, including work on clinical decision support tools, patient-matching algorithms, safety capabilities, clinical engines, interoperability, REMS programs, and workflow optimization. He also spent more than 4 years as an executive account manager between CVS Health and Epic, sizing and deploying projects across Health Plans, PBM, ambulatory care, pharmacy, and more. Dr Amin recently started his own health care technology consulting firm focused on software development, product strategy, go-to-market strategy, and clinical education.
