Marla Ahlgrimm, a Wisconsin pharmacist, and Balbir Bhogal, a Nevada pharmacologist, face charges related to allegedly supplying an illegal online drug seller with counterfeit prescription drugs. The two were arraigned on September 12, 2014, and face 10 charges, including importing and distributing controlled substances and misbranded drugs, trafficking in counterfeit drugs, mail and wire fraud, smuggling, and money laundering, a Department of Justice press release indicates. According to the press release, Ahlgrimm and Bhogal arranged for millions of tablets of controlled substances, including alprazolam and phentermine, to be manufactured in India and made plans to import the drugs into the US. Ahlgrimm had previously faced related charges, but the earlier case was dropped, indicates Madison.com.
