After pleading guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and to dispense prescription drugs without a prescription, Naresh Kumar Chintala has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison. Chintala worked for an India-based company that marketed drugs to customers in the US through telemarketing. Chintala also made false claims that the drugs were FDA-approved and manufactured in the US, according to a Department of Justice press release. In some instances, prescription medications were sold without a prescription, and were shipped in falsely labeled packages from India. In late 2014, Chintala was arrested in Jacksonville, FL, while traveling to the US on company business.
