Pharmacy Technician Education (Resolution 111-1-15)

Title: Pharmacy Technician Education
Membership Vote: PASS

WHEREAS, the role of the pharmacist is expanding, which necessitates pharmacy technicians to perform expanded tasks to allow pharmacists more time to provide pharmacist care services; and

WHEREAS, education of pharmacy technicians is critical to fostering their expanded, supporting pharmacy role; and

WHEREAS, pharmacy technician education varies widely, is not being reviewed for consistency, and is not universally required;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that NABP collaborate with stakeholders to examine the various forms of pharmacy technician education in order to identify potential changes that would support the expanded pharmacy technician role.
