The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) is pleased to announce the release of the Drug Disposal Education Kit on its Safe Pharmacy consumer website. The education kit is designed to help organizations and consumers raise awareness about safe medication disposal and promote the use of NABP’s Drug Disposal Locator Tool.
The education kit includes shareable media assets such as downloadable images, videos, and sample captions, along with a sample newsletter. The Drug Disposal Education Kit joins the #BuySafely Education Kit as part of NABP’s growing collection of shareable resources that help inform the public about safe medication practices. Organizations, health care professionals, and individuals are encouraged to share the resources found in the education kit with their online communities to help promote the importance of proper disposal of unused and unneeded medications.
NABP’s Drug Disposal Locator Tool enables users to quickly search for drug disposal locations in their areas. The tool compiles more than 10,000 permanent drug disposal locations nationwide, helping reduce the risk of poisoning, misuse, and overdose associated with keeping unused medications in the home.
The Safe Pharmacy website continues to serve as a trusted resource for both consumers and health care providers, offering tools and information that support medication safety.
