The Office of the United States Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator held a meeting to discuss the implementation of restricted new generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs). The objective of the meeting, held on March 15, 2016, was to address the issues impacting restricted gTLDs, such as best practices in operations, consumer awareness, and public policy. Carmen A. Catizone, MS, RPh, DPh, NABP executive director/secretary, participated in the meeting and provided an overview of the .Pharmacy TLD Program and the risks of rogue Internet drug outlets. Registry operators Medistry for .med and fTLD for .bank also attended the meeting. In addition, US government officials from the following agencies were among the participants: Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Department of Treasury, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Federal Trade Commission, and National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center.
