Business Sessions, CPE Programs, Networking Events, and More Await AttendeesRenowned for its cultural attractions, gardens, and theme parks, Orlando, FL, will be the host city for the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) 113th Annual Meeting, “Explore, Discover, Act – Imagineering the Future of Pharmacy Regulation.” The annual event will provide attendees an opportunity to explore “The City Beautiful” after participating in NABP Business Sessions, during which members discuss and vote on proposed resolutions and potential amendments to the NABP Constitution and Bylaws and delegates elect open Executive Committee officer and member positions. In addition, attendees can earn Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)-accredited continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credit and have an opportunity to network with peers. The meeting will take place May 20-23, 2017, at the Hyatt Regency Orlando on International Drive in Orlando, FL.

Continuing Pharmacy Education

During the CPE sessions at the 113th Annual Meeting, educators, regulators, and other key stakeholders will share their knowledge, experience, and insights related to the future of pharmacy practice. The following knowledge-based sessions geared toward pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will provide attendees the opportunity to earn up to 6.5 hours of ACPE-accredited CPE credit:

Saturday, May 20

Sunday, May 21

Keynote Address

Attendees will have the unique opportunity to hear from one of the nation’s most prominent political journalists and correspondents, Howard Fineman. As boards of pharmacy face ever-changing political landscapes, Fineman will share his perspective on today’s complicated issues and political decisions with approachability, humor, and candor during his keynote address, “Politics: From the Top and the Inside.”

Throughout his remarkable international career, Fineman has interviewed and written about every major presidential candidate since 1984 and proved himself to be one of the leading reporters in Washington, DC. Fineman was the first journalist to thoroughly interview President George W. Bush after the events of September 11, 2001, and his Newsweek cover story “Bush and God” was part of a series of articles that won the 2003 National Magazine Award for General Excellence. Fineman is currently global editorial director of the Huffington Post Media Group and also makes regular appearances on MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews, NBC’s Today Show, and ESPN Radio’s Tony Kornheiser Show.

Special Events

Attendees will be able to share information and network with fellow state board of pharmacy members and other pharmacy professionals during the numerous optional events taking place throughout the meeting.

NABP and NABP Foundation are accredited by ACPE as providers of CPE. ACPE provider number: 0205. Learning objectives for CPE session participants include being able to identify the latest legislative and regulatory issues being addressed by the state boards of pharmacy, explain how the changing regulatory environment impacts the state boards of pharmacy and the practice of pharmacy, and identify gaps in regulatory oversight and best practices for state pharmacy boards to overcome them.
