Jeanne D. Waggener, RPh, was elected to serve a three-year member term, representing District 6, on the Executive Committee of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy®(NABP®) during the Association’s 108th Annual Meeting, May 19-22, 2012, in Philadelphia, PA.

Ms Waggener, a member of the Texas State Board of Pharmacy since 2006, has served on several Board task forces and committees, and as president and treasurer of the Board. Ms Waggener began her career as a staff pharmacist in a community pharmacy, and she has worked in the community pharmacy environment, both as a pharmacy manager and assistant manager, for nearly 40 years. Currently, Ms Waggener is a pharmacy manager for Wal-Mart Pharmacy.

An active member of NABP, Ms Waggener has served on several task forces and committees. She served as chair of the Task Force on Internet Pharmacy Practice Standards, and was a member of the Task Force to Review and Recommend Revisions to the Controlled Substances Act. She also served as a member of the Task Force on Pharmacy Technician Education and Training Programs and the Task Force to Review TOEFL iBT Score Requirements. In addition, Ms Waggener has served on the Committee on Constitution and Bylaws. Further, Ms Waggener will represent NABP at an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education meeting on advancing quality pharmacy education, and as a member of the Standards Development Oversight Committee for the Center for Pharmacy Practice Accreditation, the community pharmacy practice accreditation program NABP is developing with the American Pharmacists Association.

Ms Waggener has served on the Texas Medicaid Drug Utilization Review Board since 2005, and she is a member of the Texas Pharmacy Association and the Heart of Texas Pharmacy Association.

An active leader in pharmacy education, Ms Waggener is a preceptor for the University of Texas College of Pharmacy. She has served as chair of the advisory council for the pharmacy technician program at Texas State Technical College. In addition, Ms Waggener has been an active leader in several science and engineering fairs in Texas. Currently, she is the president of the Board of Trustees, and a member of the Institutional Review Board for the Central Texas Science and Engineering Fair, Inc. She has also served as chair of the Advisory Council of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, and as chair of the Institutional Review Board for the ExxonMobil Texas Science and Engineering Fair.

Ms Waggener earned a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from University of Texas, Austin.
