The counterfeit vials of Avastin® purchased by 19 medical clinics in the US have been traced back to a seller located in Barbados, a CBS investigative report reveals. FDA issued a warning about the counterfeit Avastin, a drug used to treat cancer, and sent letters to the medical clinics in February 2012. The fake Avastin was sold to doctors in the US by Montana Healthcare Solutions and CBS News reports that a UK company with the same owner shipped the fake drugs into the US. CBS indicates that it is unknown where the drugs were originally manufactured, but investigators followed a trail of shipments from Turkey to Egypt, through Switzerland and Denmark, and then into the UK. An interview with the owner of Montana Healthcare Solutions, and information from NABP are featured in the CBS videos.
