Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has published a final rule that implements requirements related to registering emergency medical services (EMS) agencies under the Protecting Patient Access to Emergency Medications Act of 2017. The final rule harmonizes DEA regulations to the statutory language describing the security, storage, record keeping, and administration requirements for EMS agencies handling controlled substances (CS). This rule went into effect on March 9, 2026.
