RESOLUTION NO: 121-1-25
TITLE: Drugs Lost in Transit
ACTION: PASS
WHEREAS, boards of pharmacy, state agencies, and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) are notified of drugs lost in transit; and

WHEREAS, drugs lost in transit may contribute to delays or interruptions in patient drug therapy that may adversely affect patient health; and
WHEREAS, in the delivery and/or shipping process, federally controlled substances, including opioids and stimulants, may be intercepted by unauthorized individuals and have the potential to be misused and further contribute to substance use disorders and the opioid epidemic, which constitutes a public health issue;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that NABP work with federal agencies including DEA, Food and Drug Administration, United States Postal Service, shipping vendors, wholesale distributors, and reverse distributors to further study this issue to identify causes and develop effective strategies to minimize the incidence of drugs lost in transit, thereby safeguarding public health, safety, and welfare.
