Why does our payment service provider require accreditation?

In response to increased regulatory scrutiny, the card brands updated their requirements for pharmacy merchants that accept card-not-present (CNP) transactions. A CNP transaction occurs when a credit card is not physically present at the time of the transaction (ie, when a payment is made via phone, internet, app, fax, or mail). Almost all pharmacies – even brick-and-mortar pharmacies – offer CNP payment options. To comply with the card brand policies, your bank or payment processor may begin requiring accreditation.
