Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Rextovy™ 4 mg, a nonprescription naloxone hydrochloride nasal spray. The naloxone product will be available at convenience stores, pharmacies, and online. The agency notes that some individuals may experience shaking, sweating, nausea, and anger after regaining consciousness following Rextovy administration.
In addition to Rextovy, RiVive® and Narcan® are also FDA-approved, over-the-counter naloxone nasal sprays for reducing the effects of opioid overdoses.
