The Legislative Analysis and Public Policy Association (LAPPA) published a fact sheet after orphines were discovered in the illicit drug supply across 23 states earlier this year. Orphines (such as brorphine or cychlorphine) are a group of potent synthetic opioids often found mixed in with other substances, such as fentanyl, nitazene, novel benzodiazepines, and stimulants. There are currently no drug test strips that can help identify orphine presence in drug products, and few toxicology laboratories have the equipment to test for the opioid.
