Executive Director, Partnership for Safe Medicines
Shabbir Imber Safdar is the executive director of the Partnership for Safe Medicines (PSM), a public health group committed to the safety of prescription drugs and protecting consumers against counterfeit, substandard, or otherwise unsafe medications. Prior to this role, he served as a consultant to PSM for nearly a decade. Mr Imber Safdar is passionate about patient safety and the dangers of counterfeits, having seen firsthand the risks they pose in countries around the world where closed, secure drug supply chains do not exist. In addition to his role at PSM, he hosts two podcasts: Safe Medicines: True Crime and Medicine Safety, which explores crimes and also current and proposed policies that may increase or decrease the danger of counterfeits, and Imitation Nation, which covers all things counterfeit and related news about counterfeit products, seizures, and prosecutions.
