Task Force and Committee Reports

NABP convenes task forces and committee meetings to conduct in-depth discussions and reviews of emerging pharmacy and public health topics. Task forces often address topics from resolutions that are approved by the membership at the Annual Meeting. Committees are either standing committees that are held annually pursuant to the NABP Constitution and Bylaws, or they are Ad-hoc committees that are formed pursuant to a specific need identified by the Executive Committee. All groups compile their findings into formal reports and make recommendations to the Executive Committee for consideration.

    Task Forces

Task forces provide guidance on current topics of interest to the state boards of pharmacy. Typically, a task force is appointed to further explore an issue that requires special expertise. After the task force meets, members report their findings and recommend actions to the Executive Committee for approval.

    Standing Committees

Two of the standing committees named in the NABP Constitution and Bylaws are the Committee on Constitution and Bylaws and the Committee on Law Enforcement/Legislation. The former reviews proposed amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws, suggests changes where appropriate, and issues a recommendation for each proposed amendment. The latter  reviews and comments on existing legislation and rules for the practice of pharmacy. Additionally, the Committee develops model regulations for pharmacy as assigned by the Executive Committee and recommends areas where model regulations are needed in pharmacy for improving the protection of the public health.

    Ad-hoc Committees

At times, the NABP Executive Committee determines that a topic requires a team to review and issue for an extended period – typically one to two years. In these cases, an ad-hoc committee is created. For example, a committee was created to explore the needs of the new Research and Innovation Institute that is being developed.
