NABP and G2, the leading global provider of merchant risk management solutions, have further formalized their partnership with the goal of helping consumers more easily find safe online pharmacies and avoid rogue outlets engaging in prohibited practices or the sale of illegal pharmaceuticals. After a series of webinars and presentations at the 10th Annual G2 Summit, NABP will continue working with G2 to help educate payment companies, marketplaces, and merchants about regulatory standards for the safe practice of pharmacy as part of a larger effort to protect consumers. As part of this partnership, health care merchants will be verified by NABP’s .Pharmacy Verified Websites Program and fulfill Visa and Mastercard requirements for card-not-present transactions. This certification will also allow merchants to meet advertising criteria for Google, Bing, Yahoo!, Twitter, and Snapchat.
NABP has reviewed almost 12,000 pharmacy websites and nearly 95% operate out of compliance with pharmacy laws and practice standards that protect the public health. The .Pharmacy Program provides consumers with a way to easily identify safe pharmacy and pharmacy-related websites. Consumers who buy medicines from NABP-verified websites can be confident they are buying medicine or obtaining information from trustworthy, legitimate sources. An easy way to know that a website has been verified by NABP is to look for the .pharmacy suffix at the end of the web address. A list of safe online pharmacies and related resources can be found in the Find a Safe Site section of www.safe.pharmacy.
