Delegates Approve Seven Resolutions at the NABP 113th Annual Meeting

Delegates from the member boards of pharmacy adopted seven resolutions during the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) 113th Annual Meeting, held May 20-23, 2017, in Orlando, FL. The resolutions addressed the following:

• Convening a task force of stakeholders, which may include Food and Drug Administration, to develop model regulations for the compounding of animal medication;
• Convening a task force to examine developing a definition of a patient-pharmacist relationship and recommend, if necessary, amending the Model State Pharmacy Act and Model Rules of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (Model Act);
• Collaborating with stakeholders to examine mechanisms that would allow foreign exchange students and practitioners to participate in clinical learning activities in the United States;
• Convening a task force to study long-term care pharmacy rules and to review and recommend, if necessary, amending the Model Act;
• Collaborating with state boards of pharmacy to provide guidance on defining and enforcing qualifying concurrent sister-state disciplinary actions, particularly those that involve direct patient impact or harm; and
• Reviewing existing unit-of-use packaging standards and recommend, if necessary, amending the Model Act to assist in establishing consistency for packaging unit-of-use containers.

Additionally, a recognition resolution honoring members of the Association who have passed away was approved.
