The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has launched a free searchable database with information on prescription and over-the-counter drugs, herbals, and dietary supplements associated with liver injury. The LiverTox database is a free resource for health care providers and researchers studying liver injury associated with these products. The database provides up-to-date, accurate, and easily accessed information on the diagnosis, cause, frequency, patterns, and management of liver injury attributable to prescription and nonprescription medications, herbals, and dietary supplements. The database currently contains information on 700 medications, and 300 more will be added. More information is available in an NIH news release.
