A new Michigan law bans synthetic cannabinoid products, including K2 and Spice, as well as synthetic bath salt products, and the chemicals used to make these products. These synthetic drugs will be classified as Schedule I controlled substances in Michigan “and producers and distributors will be subject to the same penalties as those of other drugs in the classification,” indicates a news release from the office of Michigan Governor Rick Snyder. The law also gives the Michigan Department of Community Health, working with the Michigan Board of Pharmacy, the power to temporarily ban a substance if it is determined to be an imminent danger to public health, reports The Detroit Free Press.
