NABP provided information about online pharmacy safety and rogue Internet drug sellers, including an overview of the .pharmacy gTLD program, at the Beyond the Dot 2014 conference held in Washington, DC, on February 19, 2014. NABP emphasized the public health threat posed by rogue sites that often sell dangerous counterfeit drugs, and the need to establish the .pharmacy gTLD so that consumers have a means for identifying legitimate, vetted Internet pharmacies and resources. The .pharmacy gTLD will be available only to legitimate online pharmacies, those that adhere to pharmacy laws in the jurisdictions in which they are based and to which they sell medicine, and related entities located in the US or other countries. More information about the .pharmacy proposal is available on the NABP website.
