RESOLUTION NO: 120-2-24
TITLE: Task Force to Assess Expanding Access to NABP Competency Assessment Examinations
ACTION: PASS

WHEREAS, the public at large relies on the professionals who the state boards of pharmacy license and regulate to provide critical health care services; and

WHEREAS, state boards of pharmacy have a common duty to protect the public while ensuring a safe and streamlined process for pharmacist licensure; and

WHEREAS, it is vital that appropriate measures are in place to ensure the integrity of the competency assessment examinations used for pharmacist licensure; and

WHEREAS, at the same time, public policy supports scrutiny of the established licensure process to safely improve it;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that NABP convene a task force to examine feasible options for NABP and state boards of pharmacy to expand access to NABP competency examination administration processes. Such options may include, but are not limited to, providing more testing center choices, enhancing communication between schools and colleges of pharmacy and NABP to alleviate delays in the posting of graduate transcripts, and allowing candidates to take the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination® and/or Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination® prior to anticipated graduation.
