Can I carry over CPE credits to a previous or subsequent CPE cycle?

Some states allow a pharmacist to obtain CPE outside of the standard CPE cycle date range and apply those credits to a previous cycle or carry excess credits over to the subsequent CPE cycle. In addition, some states allow a “grace period” where deficiencies in CPE can be rectified within a specified period after license renewal without impact to licensure status or penalty.

If you are licensed by one of these states, credits dated outside of the standard CPE cycle for a state are NOT currently included in the calculations for compliance.

States that allow credits to carry over:  Alabama, Montana, New Jersey, South Carolina, and South Dakota.

States that allow credits to apply to a previous cycle, including those with a “grace period”: Indiana, Montana, North Dakota, and West Virginia.
